The Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) ensures that the 1.7 million people – who died in the two world wars – will never be forgotten. It cares for cemeteries and memorials at 23,000 locations in 153 countries. The CWGC's records are just as extensive and form a vital part of the work. There are now 3.5 million documents in the archive.
The CWGC needed to move over a kilometre of physical records and files with limited swing and storage space. It was operating on an extremely tight schedule.
Active Workplace Solutions managed the internal relocation project operating on an extremely tight schedule. CWGC's existing 40-year-old roller racking was dismantled, reconfigured and then reassembled on-site by specialist roller racking engineers. Crate management, sequential packing and unpacking of historic files, and internal relocation of the client's two-metre security safes were also a priority. Active Workplace Solutions also recycled excess safes.
All phases were completed to a very specific schedule and seamlessly carried out while CWGC offices were occupied.
In their own words:
“I would like to thank you and Active Workplace Solutions for the very smooth transference of the roller racking systems and the huge amount of filing. Active Workplace Solutions has been extremely professional, helpful, quick and efficient. From a personal viewpoint, I would have no hesitation in using the company in the future."
