The University College of Estate Management are a leading provider of supported online learning for the Built environment. Offering a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes as well as corporate development courses, UCEM has over 90 years of experience. After more than four decades based in Reading White Knights Campus, The University College of Estate Management decided to move to a new office on Queens Road, Reading. Prior to the move, Active Workplace Solutions engaged with Project Manager, Tom Sandman to discuss a relocation strategy and pre plan the move in detail. Meetings involved providing the client with the Active Workplace Solutions move guide as well as introducing key members of staff and agreeing a colour coded labelling system to ensure a smooth relocation to UCEM's new Reading office.
The move split across a 7 day period started with the delivery of crates to UCEM and decom of all IT equipment. Move one was a tricky relocation of a 3m x 2m one off piece of artwork from above a narrow stairwell, after being lowered down using a scaffold construction, the artwork was wrapped and protected before being carried down 5 floors.
Crates were packed and transferred over to the new premises on Queens Road where they were unpacked and IT re commissioned. Once complete all building protection was removed and post move support offered to get the office back up and running.
The move was completed on time and allowed UCEM to get back to business with minimal disruption. The Active Workplace Solutions team ensured that all excess furniture and WEEE waste and rubbish was cleared from sight in line with ISO 14001 standards and environmental policy. Following the relocation to its new premises in Reading, UCEM was awarded an 'Excellent' BREEAM rating.
