As a boutique facilities management and office fit
out business, we have come to understand how office design, along with other
factors, can directly influence employee wellbeing. We endeavour to support our
employee's wellbeing, as it is crucial that we ensure our employees know that they
are valued and respected within the organisation. We spend a considerable amount of
time working with clients, achieving fantastic spaces that support their employees'
wellbeing and aid productivity - so we must of course practice what we preach!
With this in mind, we recently completed a total
refurbishment of our work space to better our own employees' working environment and
experience. We have installed a sit stand desk to encourage organic movement and
improve energy levels, created a new mezzanine floor and totally refitted our
existing workspace with state of the art design, utilising natural light as much as
possible, and have also started a no-food-at-your-desk policy, and provide fruit
basket twice a week from Fruitful Office.
At Active, we recognise how important our local
community is to us and are dedicated to supporting and helping improve wellbeing
across the community. We are delighted to be able to support the Berkshire Community
Foundation (BCF) who have been giving back to our local community for over 30 years.
BCF raises funds for, and makes grants to, local charities and community groups
addressing identified needs across Berkshire. The foundation connects people with
causes and projects in the areas of: West Berkshire, Reading, Wokingham, Bracknell,
Slough and Windsor & Maidenhead.
Over the years, The Foundation has had the chance to
impact a variety of people as a result of its mission to inspire local and change
lives. In 2017 alone, they made 172 grants totalling just under £1m. With the help
of our support, BCF will be able to contribute further and make a huge difference to
issues within the community.
One of the BCF's main focus areas is mental health,
which has been a significant issue to emerge in the past couple of years. Within the
local community, the main priorities for mental health support are: support in the
community, promoting wellbeing, finding help, getting involved, keeping safe. As well
as supporting those with mental health issues, the Berkshire Community Foundation
supports a range of causes including isolation and loneliness amongst the elderly
and creating safe environments for disabled children to play.
